Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 18, 2026
1. About this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Photo Lock mobile application ("Photo Lock", "the app", "we", "us", or "our") accesses, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the app.
Photo Lock is designed as a private, on-device vault for photos and videos. The current version of the app does not require an account and does not upload your hidden photos or videos to a Photo Lock server.
2. Information and data the app accesses
Depending on the features you use and your Android version, Photo Lock may access:
- Photos and videos you select for import into the private vault.
- Media information needed to import, display, restore, or delete selected photos and videos, such as file name, media type, and original album/location information.
- Lock settings, including your selected lock type and locally protected verification data for your PIN or emoji password.
- App preferences, such as dark mode, language, auto-lock settings, recovery settings, decoy app selection, and biometric preference.
- Biometric authentication status when you choose to unlock with fingerprint or face authentication. Android performs the biometric verification; Photo Lock does not receive or store your fingerprint, face image, or biometric template.
3. How your photos and videos are handled
When you import a photo or video, Photo Lock creates a private copy inside the app's private storage. Files stored there are not intended to be visible through normal Gallery apps or ordinary shared media storage.
If you choose to remove the original from your Gallery after import, Android may show a system confirmation before the original media item is deleted.
When you use Restore to Gallery, Photo Lock creates a copy in shared Gallery storage. For newly imported media, the app may store the original album information locally so that a restored item can be returned to its previous album when possible. Older vault items that do not contain this information may be restored to a Restored album instead.
4. Storage and security
Vault media and app preferences are stored locally on your device. Photo Lock uses Android private app storage for hidden media. Lock credentials are not stored as readable PIN or emoji password values in the current version; verification data is protected using cryptographic mechanisms and Android Keystore-backed key material.
Android Auto Backup is disabled for Photo Lock, and the app's private vault files, database, and preferences are excluded from standard Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup rules.
No security method can guarantee absolute protection. You are responsible for maintaining control of your device and device credentials.
5. Data collection, sharing, and sale
The current version of Photo Lock does not operate a Photo Lock account service and does not send the contents of your private photo or video vault to our servers.
We do not sell your private photos, videos, lock credentials, or vault contents.
Data may leave the private vault only when you intentionally use a feature that requires it, such as restoring media to your Gallery or otherwise sharing/exporting content through functionality you choose to use.
6. Permissions
Photo Lock may request Android permissions that are necessary for features you choose to use, including:
- access to selected photos and videos or media storage;
- biometric authentication;
- legacy storage permissions on older Android versions where required for compatible media operations; and
- internet access to display online legal pages such as this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use inside the app.
Permission availability and wording depend on your Android version. You can manage Android permissions through your device settings.
7. Website and legal-page access
When the app loads pages hosted on getphotolock.com, the hosting provider and ordinary web infrastructure may process technical request information such as your IP address, browser/WebView user agent, request time, and requested page as part of normal server operation and security logging.
These legal pages do not require you to create an account or submit your private vault media.
8. Data retention and deletion
Vault files and local app settings remain on your device until you delete them, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app, subject to Android's behavior and any copies you have restored or exported to shared storage.
Deleting an item from Photo Lock permanently removes that vault copy. If no other copy exists in your Gallery, backup, or elsewhere, the item may not be recoverable.
Because the current version does not require a Photo Lock account, there is no server-side Photo Lock account to delete.
9. Children's privacy
Photo Lock is a general-purpose privacy utility and is not specifically directed to children. Users should comply with applicable age requirements and local law when using the app.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, its features, its permissions, its SDKs, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when a revised policy is published.
